Formed in May 1890 following the amalgamation of four local breweries this brewer is a major player in the real ale market. It also owns Marstons and brews beers under the Hanson's name following an earlier takeover. Took over Jennings during 2005.

Never a brewery, this was the location of the Courage brewery groups headquarters. It ceased to be involved in brewing in any way when the breweries were sold to Scottish & Newcastle and became part of Scottish Courage.

Founded in 1856 this brewery was run by Morlands until 1920. Registered as a Guernsey based company in 1920 it was taken over in 1977 by Bucktrout, a local pub company. In 1988 it merged with Jersey Brewery. The brewplant was sold to Highlands Brewing Company.

Brewery opened in 1825 and taken over by Melbourne Brothers in 1869, brewing ceased in 1974 during a take over by Samuel Smiths. Converted into a brewing museum, it started brewing fruit flavoured bottled beers in the summer of 1998.
